Biographical entry Stawell, Richard R.
Sir Richard Stawell joined the Wallaby Club in 1899 and maintained his membership until 1903. Stawell was a physician and the inaugural President of the Royal Australian College of Physicians. He was President of the Royal Melbourne Hospital and President of the Victorian Branch of the British Medical Association. The Stawell Oration was created in his honour. He served in World War I.

A Private Club
The Wallaby Club is a Melbourne-based walking club established in 1894 with a strong bias towards good fellowship, talking and an appreciation of both the natural and built environments. Membership is strictly limited and is by invitation only.
