Biographical entry Mather, John ( - 1916)
John Mather joined the Wallaby Club in 1899 and maintained his membership until his death in 1916. He was a painter, etcher and art teacher. He was noted for painting the inside of the dome of the Exhibition Building in Carlton. He was also a Trustee of the National Gallery, Melbourne.

The Wallaby Club is a Melbourne-based walking club established in 1894 with a strong bias towards good fellowship, talking and an appreciation of both the natural and built environments. Membership is strictly limited and is by invitation only.
