J. Minifie joined the Wallaby Club in 1926 and maintained his membership until his death in 1968. He was elected President in 1949 and Walks Secretary 1932-1965. He was a flour miller and a World War I pilot in No 1 Squadron of the Royal naval Air Service. He was the father of Jim Minifie, brother-in-law of Dr C. Sutherland, and son-in-law of C.E. Oliver.

A Private Club
The Wallaby Club is a Melbourne-based walking club established in 1894 with a strong bias towards good fellowship, talking and an appreciation of both the natural and built environments. Membership is strictly limited and is by invitation only.
