Summary

Dr J. Bignell joined the Wallaby Club in 1957 and maintained his membership until his death in 2005. He was elected President in 1983 and later awarded honorary life membership. He was an ophthalmologist. His career appointments included: Senior Honorary Ophthalmologist to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and President of the Australian Mobile Eye Clinic (India and Thailiand). He was a colleague of Dr L. Mitchell and had a commercial pilot licence. He was a Surgeon Lieutenant in the RANVR [?] during World War II and was later a consultant ophthalmologist for the Royal Australian Navy.
