Bill Gronow joined the Wallaby Club in 1961 and maintained his membership until his death in 2003. He was elected President in 1980. He was a Council Member of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Victorian Division) and handled all metters concerning wireless development and application. He was the Managing Director of Zephyr Products Pty Ltd who manfactured electrical and electronic equipment for the Department of Civil Aviation, Components Manufacturer. He was also Federal President of the Wireless Institute of Australia. During World War II he was a Wing Commander in the Royal Australian Air Force in charge of technical development and production of signals and radar equipment.

The Wallaby Club is a Melbourne-based walking club established in 1894 with a strong bias towards good fellowship, talking and an appreciation of both the natural and built environments. Membership is strictly limited and is by invitation only.
