- Air Force officer, educationist and teacher
Russell Manie joined the Wallaby Club in 1999. He trained as a teacher and then worked for more than 35 years as Inspector of Schools with the Victorian Department of Education. He taught at all levels in Secondary Colleges and Technical Schools, as well as at the Toorak and Frankston teacher training colleges. During World War II he was a Flight Sergeant with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).

The Wallaby Club is a Melbourne-based walking club established in 1894 with a strong bias towards good fellowship, talking and an appreciation of both the natural and built environments. Membership is strictly limited and is by invitation only.
