- geologist and palaeontologist
Professor Neil Archbold joined the Wallaby Club in 2000 and maintained his membership until his unexpected death in 2005. He was a geologist and Professor of Palaeontology at Deakin University. He was a tutor in Geology at the University of Melbourne 1980-1983, Scientific Services Officer for the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) Division of Geomechanics 1984-1987, and Lecturer in Geology at Victoria College 1988-1992. It was from there that he moved to Deakin University where he moved up progressively from Lecturer to Senior Lecturer to Professor. He had a strong connection with the Royal Society of Victoria including a period as President.

The Wallaby Club is a Melbourne-based walking club established in 1894 with a strong bias towards good fellowship, talking and an appreciation of both the natural and built environments. Membership is strictly limited and is by invitation only.
