Russell Brown joined the Wallaby Club in 2002. He trained as a barrister and solicitor and was a Partner with Middletons (1963-1995) specialising in corporate law (especially mergers and acquisitions). He worked as a consultant from 1995 to 2000. He was a founding member of the National Stroke Foundation and a Board Member (1980-1998). He was also Director of the Heart Foundation (Victorian Division) (1973-1990) and State President (1992-1994).

The Wallaby Club is a Melbourne-based walking club established in 1894 with a strong bias towards good fellowship, talking and an appreciation of both the natural and built environments. Membership is strictly limited and is by invitation only.
